The Portuguese School in Luanda - Center for Teaching and Portuguese is a non-university institution located in Luanda, Angola. Founded in 1986 with the permission of the Portuguese Ministry of Education, the Portuguese School in Luanda received permanent authorization of functioning granted by the Ministry of Education of Angola in 1993 . Originally created for the education of the children of Portuguese residents in that country, the Portuguese School in Luanda have teachers appointed by the Portuguese Ministry of Education and follows the programs and school calendars in force in Portugal. Considered non-university institution most prestigious and sought after in Angola , the Portuguese School in Luanda also opened its doors to Angolan students in particular to the families of the local nomenclature, and the children of those with greater economic power. Built with capacity for 1,500 students, the Portuguese School in Luanda the minister pre-school levels, elementary education (1st, 2nd and 3rd cycles) and secondary education. In the academic year 2007/2008 had eighty-one thousand two hundred teachers and six students . In 2009 the number of students reached the threshold of 2000  and in 2010 the response capacity was exceeded getting 600 students waiting to wave to enter . The Portuguese government has shown willingness to support the implementation of a second phase that would increase the capacity of the Portuguese School in Luanda for the 3000 students . However, to date this has not yet occurred.
